A Trip to the Antique Mall: Brass Armadillo

There is an Antique Mall in Phoenix off the I-17 that is just HUGE. I’t s the sort of place you don’t go unless you’ve got at least two hours to kill, and it’s full of some pretty fun stuff.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s junk in there too, but a lot of the stuff is neat.
This last trip, we were on a bit of a fact finding mission – mostly for the typewriter (which I do really like, but we’re still looking) – and we certainly did find a ton of cool stuff. Sadly we don’t have the space for half of it.

Arizona Highways magazines from the 40s and 50s. We loved these, they were really cool, and for a half a minute, we considered using them as our table numbers for our upcoming wedding (putting them in frames and getting Number Decals to place on the glass, so we could save these lovely pieces of history.) We’ve decided to go with something else, but it was a fun idea while it lasted.
The Typewriter is a contender for a guest book idea I’m considering. Even if that idea falls through, I might get it, because it’s lovely, and more importantly, it works!
I think I am going to go back and buy this bird cage. It will work well for part of our décor and it was not terribly priced…. But we shall see. I’d definitely pull the fake weeds out of it. I don’t know why people put that crap in there.
The bowls! I have a weird kind of love for these bowls (The forest fancies collection from pyrex) My mom had a set when I was growing up and I loved them…. But they wound up in a garage sale instead of my possession, so, I’ve been on the lookout for my own set for a while. I’ll probably go grab some of them either at this antique mall, or off of Etsy.

I kept running into dresses around the mall and so I snatched pictures of them and sent the one in the top right corner to my bridesmaids telling them the plan had changed! I hope they were amused. I was.
